FAQ

General

SugarClock is free, open-source software that turns an inexpensive Ulanzi TC001 pixel clock into a dedicated glucose monitor display. It connects to Dexcom Share or Nightscout over Wi-Fi and shows the current reading on the clock's LED display.

No. SugarClock is not a medical device and should not be used to make treatment decisions. Always rely on your CGM receiver, CGM app, or blood glucose meter for dosing insulin or making medical decisions.

SugarClock works with Dexcom CGMs through Dexcom Share. It also works with CGM data sent to a Nightscout server or a similar compatible JSON API.

Installation

No. The browser installer flashes the firmware, and the clock's local settings page handles the rest. You only need the clock, a USB-C data cable, Wi-Fi details, and your CGM source information.

You can run the installer again. If the display is blank or the clock does not connect, reconnect the USB cable, select the device again, and re-flash SugarClock.

Yes, if you backed up the factory firmware before flashing SugarClock. You can restore it with the same flashing tools. The Ulanzi community also shares factory firmware images.

Technical

The Ulanzi TC001 has a small internal battery, but it is not designed for extended Wi-Fi and LED use. Keep it plugged into USB power for normal SugarClock operation.

Your glucose data flows from your configured data source to the clock. SugarClock stores settings locally on the device.

The clock scrolls its IP address on the LED display when it connects. You can also check your router's connected devices page or use a network scanner app on your phone.
